Where You Looking
Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Good morning! Thank you for taking a moment to be here with me on this beautiful and blessed day! Maybe today you are in the midst of looking and just haven’t decided just what it is you are looking for! Have you ever just paused and thought, where am I looking? What do I really look for? How can I look and find exactly what I need and this very moment? Many of us sit on the fence about whether we need God or not; whether it is the one thing that will change all things! But, today, let’s take a moment to realize that maybe that one thing we search for isn’t material, isn’t another human, isn’t a pet; it really is something so much bigger. Seeking God is so intentional that at the time we are needing that one constant, when we aren’t sure; we are in a heartfelt pursuit of God and haven’t just said okay, I’m ready! James W. Sire wrote, “The focus is not on the role of human experience in apprehending God, not on our grasping after the knowledge of God, not on our search for God. God is ALREADY there. The focus is on our receiving from Him the gift of the knowledge of His constant, immanent presence.” Can this not answer the question of “where are you looking”? God isn’t lost, or wandering around waiting to be found; He is always right here with you; waiting on YOU to take that step in accepting Him into your heart, soul, mind. The scriptures have always been correct in promising those who seek God sincerely, wholeheartedly, and humbly, will be rewarded with His presence, His grace, His mercy and His peace! Our ability to search in the wrong places is the human side of it. When we stop, pray, repent, then obey His call, we can find Him, because He is always there, waiting on you. As we turn over our lives to Him, we can then begin that personal relationship with Him; accepting salvation, new wisdom, a deliverance from fear and doubt, and a new strength that will help us endure life’s challenges. As we seek Him, we will need to be diligent in striving to call on Him, serve Him, keep from evil, cast our cares on Him, and begin a new life of doing what is right by humbling ourselves to His guidance. So, today, maybe you have realized that that feeling you have had for a while, is the seeking of God and all that He can give you! Take a moment and answer that question, “where you looking”?
