Serve The Giver
Luke 6:38, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
Hello friends! Praying that this day has already found blessings falling your way! Have we met with God for our gift of encouragement? Did we thank Him for blessings already received and ask Him to carry us through today? As we continue our journeys of God’s planned design, we grow in spirituality, faith, trust and obedience. I’d like to touch on how we can repay God for all the blessings He bestows on us daily. When we check the Biblical views on whom the giver is, we can’t deny that God is the one who provides all things. But, do we offer Him anything in return to thank Him? Today’s scholars find that many scriptures tell us how we can be of service to God. When we offer our time, our talents and whatever resources we may have, we are serving the giver! We have all been told that we must love the giver more than the gift; this allows us to become aligned with God and grow in our Christ-like character! Jesus spoke many times on how we are to treat the lost, weak, downtrodden, orphans and widows; all of which need those who are “givers” to aid in their care. Our giving, whether monetary, physical, or spiritual, should be given with a cheerful heart, a humble spirit, without reluctance, and in secret at times so we do not become boastful. True giving should be used as a tool for sharing God’s love and all that He gives; especially salvation. When we think of others, God sees that, He blesses that; He is looking at the attitude behind the gift and not the size or the amount of that gift. Our service to God can range from simple acts of kindness to large monetary gifts. But, as in every service, our serving must be learned; learned in a way that is pleasing to God and not as a way to “look good”, in front of others! When we truly serve the giver, God, we are showing others that we trust Him in all things, that our giving is part of His work, and that we are carrying on His work, to help lost souls become givers too! Paul reminded us in Acts 20:35, that it is better to give than to receive. So, today, before you volunteer, before you sign that check, or as you hold open that door; take a second to focus on why you are doing it! Ask yourself if you are seeking vain glory, seeking first place in a contest, getting a break on your taxes, etc.; OR are you being pricked in your heart by God to begin serving Him in a loving, humble, cheerful and stewardship way? If you are serving the giver, you will receive blessing after blessing!

Prayer:
Dear God, thank you, for the gift of salvation that you offer freely and unconditionally. Thank you, God, for your instructions on how we can be true givers just like Christ was then and is now; how He can preach, teach daily to us, through your word in the Bible and our hearts. Dear God, please continue to guide us in true giving. Amen.
