God Prompts You

John 16:13, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”

Salutations! Welcome to another blessed day the Lord has given each of us! Today, I want to take a moment to speak on prompts and how God speaks to us in internal impulses with “still small voices” as well as through prompts of obedience of common sense and knowledge. We all have personal desires about things, but we must discern on whether the world is pulling at us or if we are actually talking with God on what would be the best choice to make. So many times we allow the devil to creep in and use our selfish human desires to sway our thoughts away from our Godly knowledge. When we do this, the decisions we make usually end in disastrous or troubled results and we become distraught. True prompts and inner “still” voices align with the Bible and serve to glorify God and His purpose; not our selfish gains! Noah built an ark, endured ridicule, but obeyed, and survived; he listened! Abraham obeyed and left for a destination unknown. Moses heeded God’s instructions on freeing His people. Samuel heard God calling Him, and finally listened, then became the leader God intended him to be. Paul was blinded on a road and told where to find healing, then changed his whole life to be a minister for God. Our prompts, our calling, our “still” voice that God uses to get us to where we need to be, demands action, service and obedience! David didn’t have to stand before Goliath, but his faith and trust in God gave him the confidence to do what God called him to do. Obeying a prompt from God is not just feelings, it’s a call to understanding the plan God has for you, the journey He is placing before you, and how He will guide, teach, direct, and lead you through it. When we trust God we can take those divine prompts and learn to overcome fear, anxiety, and worldly desires! Sometimes believing isn’t seeing, but when we trust, then obey, the action turns into something that can be seen! Just like when we are in situations and we know it’s wrong, God pricks our hearts. We must use that prompt to say no to the devil, refuse to do that wrong and then do the right thing! Let those nudges keep stirring your inner heart back to your service of overcoming self, back to helping others, back to true faith! When you do the right thing, for the right reason, you will feel immediate obedience, complete peace, and a joy unspeakable and a heart filled with Jesus! So, today, remember to not discard any “still voice” that may be speaking! God may have a prompt for you!

Precious Father, we come now asking that you continue to speak to us in a still small voice at times when we are drifting, when we are in need of leading, when we need a true prompting to come back to you. Thank you, Father, for the words in the Bible that can give us knowledge into how we can follow your guidelines to become a better disciple for you by obeying your teachings. Amen.
