Where To Start

Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Morning everyone! Blessings on this beautiful day the Lord has provided for us today! I do pray that we have all awakened to good thoughts and are giving thanks to God for the allowance of greeting another day! Today we want to stop and ponder on starting points, or beginning points; whichever you would like to call them. As new believers our first priority is to find someone with the knowledge of how we can get started on becoming a better person. We want to begin getting all the necessary things that will help us to study better, to worship better, to communicate better, and to find the right church home with like-minded believers. Getting set up with pastors, church class leaders, possibly deacons, youth ministers, young adult ministers will help too. This will all be according to the age of the new saved believer! Though, any seasoned Christian can give insight on many things that can aid you on your start into the world of being a disciple or follower for Christ; sometimes it benefits having groups with the same age appropriate members to talk with and meet with so that all of you can converse on many topics. Talk with everyone on which study Bibles they prefer, then just go to a book store or library and check them all out by looking through them to see which is more suitable for you in the early part of your learning process! God will open your eyes to the one that best suits you as you are reading through them. When you start out, everything is new, strange, different; yet, God has a way of just coming into your heart and giving you a peace that can truly provide an understanding when you thought you couldn’t find one! Just like starting school, you had to meet new teachers, the principal, the lunch ladies, bus drivers, etc. You had to find the classroom, tour the building and all the rooms you would be going to attend. Becoming a believer is the same, you have to meet God and all that knowledge He has provided in the Bible. He provides the teachers, the pastors, the church members, the Christian friends that will be a part of your new growth on the journey you are now heading down. He also provides prayers in His word, just in case you just don’t know what to say! Truth is, He will hear you no matter what words you say, you just need to come to Him humbly, and with an open heart, believing that He will help you. You already completed the hardest task; you accepted His offer of forgiveness and you let Him come into your heart! The rest will just be school work and an afternoon job! If you make it a daily activity by praying, and studying, it will become something that you will find your heart wanting to do more and more! You will soon find that you will want to share this new-found excitement and want others to join you! Your new start will be giving others the way to finding their new start!

Prayer:

Dear God, we come now thanking you for showing us where to start in all things. Thank you, God, for the Bible that leads us to understanding how we can be disciples for you and help others to find their beginning or start on the path of a life saved by your grace, forgiven of our sins, and headed for a home in Glory! Help us, God, to chose you from the beginning until the end. Amen.
