New Christians

2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Good Morning! How are we today? Are we waking to a positive and joyful attitude filled with blessings and thankfulness? We are in the month of November; the month that should be filled with gratitude, mindfulness, kindness and thankfulness! Decades, centuries ago, someone decided that this time of year brought about a time of celebration for the end of harvest, gathering of the last of the essentials and of course, our country had a meal with the inhabitants of this great land! This brings about the topic of today; new Christians; new beginnings, new outlook, new life full of thankfulness! Though most think that the fall is an ending to harvest, it’s really just a beginning of a different season! Each season God created has its own unique qualities. Just like born-again believers; each of us are now new creations, spiritual “infants”, people reborn to start a journey of growth and transformation. We have been given the opportunity to form a lasting true relationship with Jesus Christ so we can grow in our spirituality, our faith, our trust; to become a branch on the vine He provides. God provides the Bible filled with all the necessary tools we need to become strong in the fight against the devil and all that is evil. As a new believer, this book will give insight into how God’s people learned the laws that would change how life can be lived, can be nourished, can be fulfilled. Rev. Billy Graham viewed new Christians as “spiritual babies” who require intentional spiritual nourishment, prayer, Christian community and spiritual guidance to grow in their faith. He asked that people look at John 3:3 and 2 Corinthians 5:17, because the first shows conversion is a miraculous work of the Holy Spirit then the second shows with that, we are spiritually dead but brought back to a new life in Christ! WOW! As a new believer, we are to learn to talk to God through daily prayer, and to help with that, Jesus gave His followers Matthew 6:9-13. Also, if you will look up I Chronicles 4:10, Jabez prayed a prayer that he felt he needed for God to supply him so he could further his ministry for God. Each of these prayers can help you to understand how God can not only use you to further your calling as a disciple, but increase your knowledge in your spiritual growth. Seek out those who already have been where you are and can give you encouragement and instruction. Take time to fellowship with like-minded believers by attending any events that have worship, teaching conferences, Bible studies. Find you a church that you feel the Holy Spirit dwells in and become a working member of that body by participating, by volunteering, by letting them know you are eager to be what God has called you to be! Begin this fall season to become a new improved you as a new believer who is full of unique possibilities!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come now thanking you for the gift of eternal life because your Son gave not because we were worthy but because He loved deeply for each of us. Thank you, Father, for the grace and mercy you show us daily. Thank you, Father, for your word you gave so that we can study to gain knowledge in how to be more Christ-like and to learn how to use the armor you provide to fight the evil in this world. Help us, Father to pray, to study, to trust and obey so that one day we can dwell with you in heaven. Amen
