Goodness Runs After Me
Romans 15:14, “And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.”
Greetings on this another day provided to each of us by a loving God. Today thoughts of goodness have me questioning others and their personalities. Daily we come in contact with people who seem so angry at the world and life in general. Many times, during my childhood, I asked why was my dad so bitter, strict, belittling to us/mom; and I really questioned it after he was ordained as a minister! He was constantly working to get rid of the old self; and accepting God to deliver him to his new self! In some truths; becoming a child of God is a continued process daily. We must fight the devil daily to keep the old self away and become the new self. I found that thinking of God’s goodness running after me, loving me, accepting us with all our sins, was and is stronger than anything in our past! God’s goodness; which is grace, mercy, compassion, love, patience; is a powerful addition that can move mountains, cross valleys, sail oceans; just to be within each of us! When we encounter the types of people who need the goodness of God; reach out through prayer first and always! God doesn’t make bad people, or angry people, or bitter people; He created each of us uniquely, filled with love. Remember, this world and the devil will influence everyone; the key is to not let them win; not let them inside; not give them rule! Goodness is in everyone; finding the way to get goodness to come out; come back from being hidden inside; well that is a continuous job. Even if you have known someone like this all your life, or if it’s a co-worker known a few years; or just a stranger you observe while out; pray first! If you see them daily, start with one positive act of kindness every day; pray more. While you also work on your own goodness, share goodness; the acts of grace, mercy, compassion, love and especially patience will touch others! Now, go out today working on goodness because God ran after you, and He will continue to run after you! His goodness can become your goodness!
