Debating The Outcome

I Thessalonians 2:13, “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”

Hello everyone! May this be a new and positive day full of expectations of all things good! As the title reads, we want to talk of debating, of outcomes; whether we should avoid frivolous confrontations and is there a time when we can. We are taught by the scriptures that silly debates or arguments should never be a means of winning, but of instructions, or learning tools, and should always be a way to promote unity. Many times, we feel led to prove a point, to be the one with the right answer, the right opinion, the right idea; but are we promoting unity? Are we actually looking for a way to not quarrel, and to find a compromise, a solution that can best suit all that are involved? We as believers are to stand for the spreading of the Gospel, but not in a foolish way! The Bible teaches us to be gentle teachers, leaders who speak with God’s words and teachings so that God will lead them to the truth, rather than a debate. God will open the doors to what the lost will need to hear and He will then guide them to salvation. Focus on having productive discussions, filled with patience not anger; become a peacemaker; not a Scribe or Pharisee! They were continuous leaders who turned the word of God into whatever suited their own meaning of scriptures with selfish control! When you study God’s word, He gives you the meaning that He sees fit for you; the one that helps you understand. What you get from one scripture, will not be what another person gets from it. Both views and revelations will be correct; just that each person needs something different from God! Do not debate over what you received from God with what another received; this is not Godly. God already knows the outcome of every situation; He just needs each of us to receive what He is offering! So, today, or any other day, as you talk of scriptures with others, be open-minded, be understanding; ask questions with a want of learning something new about those scriptures! If we speak with humility and honor, we can have truly teachable conversations that will not need debates! Each of us will receive a truly amazing outcome!

Prayer:

Father, we come now thanking you for the truthful words you gave within the Bible that speak of all that was and is and will be to come. Thank you, Father, for your guidance in how to handle any confrontation, any debate, any naysayer that speaks untruths about you. Give us peace and clarity when we hear those who speak evil. Grant us strength and knowledge in how to speak words of wisdom that will lead those who are confused back to the ways of your teachings. Amen.
