Accepting Help

Psalms 121:2, “My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

Good morning! How are we all today as we are getting up and ready to meet this day? Are we planning big things, little things, completing daily task? No matter the schedule, every moment is a blessing sent by God and we should welcome it with open arms! Today we are going to talk on accepting help and how it can affect us mentally, and spiritually. All of us who are grown with children, probably remember our parents, grandparents, mentors; teaching us the value of trying on our own, pushing us to be independent at some point in our life. There are probably some of you who were in situations of abandonment, given to CPS, where the only way to learn or get ahead, was to take care of yourself; fight the system, the streets, with all you had. For those I apologize that you had to endure anything like that, but I am so glad God was with you to make it! For a few of you, maybe divorce, loss of spouse, loss of parents, gave you opportunity to find a will deep inside, that would push you to being independent. Whichever, may be your option, know that God was there, is still there, and that you can do all things through Christ who will strengthen you when you have no strength left! But, today, I’d like to let you know that, though you are independent, sometimes, God will send angels who will help you. He places people in your path when you least expect it; and He wants you to know that you are strong, you are loved, but, just sometimes you need a helping hand to guide you, accept you, respect you, and HELP you! My waking moment as they say, was in my cancer diagnosis; sickness doesn’t have to be yours, but if something prompts you to “open your eyes” to the angels unaware; TAKE IT! I found peace in knowing that not only God was with me, but there are actually people who will come to the rescue and never ask for anything in return. They will say “just pay it forward”, so that then you become that “angel” that helps someone else! Robert Sharenow wrote, “Don’t let pride get in your way. Pride is a luxury that sometimes you can’t afford.” Proverbs 16:18, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Accepting, yeah really accepting, is a very hard thing to do; but the rewards of it will outweigh the bad thoughts of insecurity! Moses tried to find excuses to God’s calling, but God had answers every time; not a speaker, his brother Aaron would do that! You can find many others who worked with each other to succeed in God’s mission. So, today maybe you are on the edge of decision making, maybe you need help moving something, or maybe you need a sitter for a few hours; trust someone, ask for help, accept the help and pay it forward! God has a plan, He sends the right ones, have faith and accept!

Prayer:

Dear Lord, we come now thanking you for the “angels” unaware that you send to help each of us at some time in our lives. Thank you, Lord, for guidance you give that helps us to see when we need to accept help along with your help. Lord, please continue to help us to throw out that prideful spirit that might cause us to not see that help is just a prayer away, a call away and you are in control of all things. Amen.
