Family Values
Jeremiah 17:7, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.”
Salutations everyone! May this be a day filled with positive, good experiences; that even interactions with others will be enlightening. Let’s take a moment to ponder on how we got our values, you know, the beliefs, principles and moral standards that every family instills into our minds. Many will have core principles of honesty, respect, responsibility, and spiritual beliefs that are usually passed through every generation. Each of us know that each of those values can and will help navigate life just as every generation before. Sure, there will be family members who will make changes because they find the changes will make their lives better for their own benefit and because we choose joy not drama. But, even with those family members making a few changes, we still keep those generational values inside our minds. Solomon wrote in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it’, which means, that families instill those values of spirituality, with deep belief that even though their children may stray or make bad decisions during their lives; those values will be remembered and they will come back to everything they were taught. While we ponder on the things we teach our children, the things we believe, the standards we show others; let’s ask us ourselves; are they the values that God would be proud of? Are the values we set Christ-like in every way? Are those values taught by past generations filled with wisdom, faith and righteous behaviors? Which values would God have chosen? Every value should be building strong, resilient foundations for good relationships, not only with each other, but with the relationship with God. True family values ensure every member feels valued, heard and supported. God provides exactly those things. So, today when you pray today, ask God to guide you in re-evaluating your values, ask forgiveness for any that were shortcoming, then thank Him for the meaning of true family values!

Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for all the true values you want to instill within our hearts. Thank you, God, for giving us a true guideline to follow so that our values will be created with them in mind. Help us God, to reach toward the Christ-like characters you have already instilled within us. Please God, continue to help us choose your values so our values become blessed. Amen.
